My YouTube Liked List Hit 508 Videos. So I Built an AI Scout to Read Them for Me.
What you get: Open-source AI YouTube Scout repo, 1-paste agent setup prompt, and the no-code NotebookLM playbook.
Option A: the automated scout (coding agent)
- Free Open-Source Repo: https://github.com/nexaiadvisors/ai-youtube-scout
- 1-Paste Agent Setup Prompt: "Clone https://github.com/nexaiadvisors/ai-youtube-scout into ~/ai-youtube-scout, install skills/ai-youtube-scout into ~/.claude/skills/ai-youtube-scout, read SKILL.md, and walk me through the 5-question onboarding interview to build my taste-profile.md, scout my channels, and open the local Video Insights dashboard."
Option B: the free no-code NotebookLM playbook
If you don't use a coding agent yet, follow this 3-step recipe in Google's free NotebookLM tool (https://notebooklm.google.com):
STEP 1 PROMPT (DO THIS ONCE) — WRITE YOUR '60-DAY GOALS NOTE' (Paste into Claude or ChatGPT with your last 20 liked video titles, then save the output as a note inside a free NotebookLM notebook): "Here are the titles of the last 20 YouTube videos I liked: [PASTE 20 LIKED VIDEO TITLES + CHANNEL NAMES HERE]
- Spot my top 5 recurring channels and top 5 core topics.
- Write 3 strict 'skip rules' to filter out clickbait, Shorts under 4 minutes, or generic news hype.
- Ask me 3 quick questions about what I am building over the next 60 days. Once I answer, output a short 'MY 60-DAY GOALS NOTE' that I can save inside my Google NotebookLM notebook."
STEP 2 RECIPE — TURN 5–10 SAVED VIDEOS INTO 90-SECOND ACTION BRIEFS (Drop 5–10 YouTube URLs from your Watch Later list into that same NotebookLM notebook and run this prompt): "Using the 'MY 60-DAY GOALS NOTE' saved in this notebook, do NOT give me a generic summary. For each YouTube video I added, write a 90-Second Action Brief in this exact format:
- Verdict ('90-Second Read Is Enough' vs. 'Watch Screen Demo'): Tell me if reading this brief gives me 100% of what I need, or if the video has a live visual screen demo I should actually watch.
- 90-Second Bottom Line: 3 sentences explaining the core workflow and how it applies to my 60-day goals.
- Concrete Receipts: Bullet points keeping every exact number, tool, command, and [mm:ss] timestamp.
- 'Use This Week' Checklist: 3 specific 30-minute actions I can test this week."
STEP 3 — SKIP 4 OF 5 VIDEOS: For 4 out of 5 videos, reading the 90-second Action Brief gives you every exact number, tool, and step without watching the 40-minute video at all — and you only watch the rare 1 in 5 video that NotebookLM flags for a live screen demo.
