Jobber, Housecall Pro or ServiceTitan already text back missed calls. Do I need anything else?
Start with what you have. Jobber, Housecall Pro and ServiceTitan all offer missed-call text-back on some plans or add-ons, and it is the cheapest first step. You need more only if callers still slip away: when calls need a live answer, when emergencies come in after hours, or when nobody replies to the texts fast enough.
What your software already does
As of October 2026, roughly:
| Software | Missed-call text-back | AI phone answering |
|---|---|---|
| Jobber | on the Connect plan and up | an AI receptionist add-on, about $99 a month |
| Housecall Pro | on the Essentials plan and up | ask your rep |
| ServiceTitan | through the Marketing Pro add-on | ask your rep |
Plans change, so check your own account settings or ask your rep. If you have it and have not turned it on, do that today. It costs nothing extra on most plans.
What a text-back does not do
A text-back sends one message after a missed call: "Sorry we missed you, how can we help?" That is useful, but it leaves gaps:
- It does not answer the call. Someone with a burst pipe wants a voice now, not a text.
- Someone still has to reply. If the customer texts back and nobody answers for two hours, the text did not save the job.
- It does not sort emergencies. A text cannot tell "water on the floor" from "quote for next month" and wake the right person.
- It does not follow up. One text, then silence.
When it is worth paying for more
Look at your call log after a month with text-back turned on:
- Callers still are not booking. Text-back helps, but if most missed callers never reply, they wanted a live answer.
- After-hours calls matter to you. If you take emergency work, someone or something has to answer at night.
- Nobody has time to work the replies. If texts sit unanswered while you are on a roof, you need the replies handled for you.
If none of those are true, keep what you have.
What NexAI adds
The NexAI front desk works next to your software, not inside it. Tier 1 adds a 10-second text-back from a registered local number, instant replies to website forms, and a monthly report of every rescued call. Tier 2 adds a live AI voice receptionist that answers, sorts emergencies from routine work, books into Google Calendar, and texts you a summary. Tier 1, the Speed-to-Lead Front Desk, is $497/month with $0 setup. Tier 2, the Complete AI Front Desk + Custom Site, is $997/month with $1,500 setup and adds the live AI voice receptionist.
If you need the booking to land inside Jobber, Housecall Pro or ServiceTitan automatically, ask me on the fit call. I will tell you plainly what works today and what does not.
More questions home-service contractors ask
Does Jobber have missed-call text back?
Yes, on its higher plans, and Jobber also sells an AI receptionist add-on. Check your plan in your Jobber account, since plans and prices change.
Does Housecall Pro text back missed calls?
Yes, on its Essentials plan and above, as of October 2026.
Is a missed-call text enough to win the job?
Sometimes. It works best for routine requests where the customer is happy to text. For emergencies, callers usually want a live answer, so a text alone often loses the job to whoever picks up.
